PSP 6.xx to 6.20/6.xx DownGrade Guide v5

New Version by Some1 and Davee PSP 6.xx Downgrader v5 is release, the downgrader is now support OFw 6.60/6.39/6.38/6.35/6.31 on any PSP models up to 09g to downgrade to fw6.20. New in this rel: Added support for 09g units to 6.20. You can read the technical details following the source.

PSP downgrader version 3 re-added. This version is more stable for 03-05g psp with OFW 6.39. where in version 5 experienced an error when running the power exploit. so if this version does not work on your psp, you can only wait for new updates.

Some people have reported getting an error:
  • "The update cannot be started",
  • "The data is corrupted", Error "IDXFFFFFFFF",
  • A later version of the system software is already installed. There is no need to update. (CAAFFFFFCF7),
This is a bug in some of the psp, when running the SCE updater, Davee said, he will release v5.1 to fix this error, so be patient to wait for new version.

If you get an error/fails, should be avoided!! its about some risk like attempting a downgrade.. and wait new an update.

PSP 6.3x Downgrader has been release by PSP Developer - Some1, The downgrader confirmed to works on a official firmware 6.38 and 6.39 ( HEN or CFw is not needed to downgrade! ), to downgrade to Firmware 6.20 or 6.35. This is a port of Davee’s psp 6.35 / 6.31 Downgrader, and it has been tested on PSP-1000, 2000, 3000, and PSP-GO models.

PSP 6.3x Downgrader uses the utility / power exploit to gain kernel access and reboots into the Sony updater with a special PRX running. This PRX uses the pspdecrypt functionality to decrypt the updater PRX when needed. This allows the updater to boot in the newer firmwares.

You can downgrade to Firmware 6.20 if you have psp hardware module less than 05g, and to Firmware 6.35 if you have 07g / 09g... I guess implies you’re downgrading to 6.35 and do not go any lower. if you do not know which modules your PSP has installed, you can download and run the PSP Module Checker to find out, before proceed the downgrading.

  7. In this case, the OFw does not match / was corrupted.. try downloading a new one. or if you use OFw with the version that is not appropriate.

Make sure you OFw version (6.20/6.35) is for PSP-Go, and you're not running any CFw.

what can I do? Need some help guys....sorry to be a bother...thanx

    ReplyDelete
  27. This a missing key issue, and will quit the "updater" You may want to try some things:

-Makesure you have a seplugins folder is empty, just delete the folder / reformat your PSP system storage.

-Restore your psp to default setting.
    -Download v4.1, then try again.

If this still fails, The safe way is to install CFw6.60PRO-B9, its about some risk like attempting a downgrade.. and wait new an update.

    Hopefully this help.. :)

  30. 'this tool will re-format your flash0 and just not overwrite the system updates.'

Excuse me. I dun know what this means. Would using 6.xx_Downgrader_v4 (or other ver.) for downgrade make the f0 any different from using only OFW update file for upgrade?

What does 'just not overwrite the system updates' mean?

    ReplyDelete
  31. This depends on the model psp, if you have 1g/2g psp, The best option is to use pandora magic stick(DC) by dark_alex, because it has been full hack included key regeneration even its become full brick. please read about the pandora battery.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi can I ask if my PSP 3004 version 6.37 can be downgraded? And after downgrading, how do I modify it? Thanks so much if you can tell me! :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Kuyo: In this case, you have 2 options..
First, you can downgrade and install CFw 6.20PRO-B where in this version has the a permanent patch feature is a destination for many people.

The second option, you can update it to OFw 6.39, and install CFw 6.39PRO-B.. This is safer, than the risk of brick.

Downgrader tool has been tested and works well, but did not rule if it ruin your PSP .. so, if a permanent patch is not your purpose, the second option is a wise choice.

    Hopefully this help.. :)

    plz help

    ReplyDelete
  35. @zam: Hi, several experienced this when, the EBOOT update was not found, try re-format your memstick and re-copy the EBOOT update, make sure you have the correct update (download 6.20 for psp 3000), extract the files into PSP/GAME/UPDATE/ folder.

Your battery power condition is less than 78%, Plug in ac adapter during an update.

Note: The downgrader must be run first! and do not run the downgrader in CFw or Hen installed.
    Hopefully this help.. :)

PSP 3000/PSP go from 6.60 can NOT go to 6.20.
    Yet ;)
Can people prove or disprove this?

    ReplyDelete
  68. @Bishop: To what version psp can be downgraded is depending on the module rather than on the models... where fw6.35 comes on new modules 7g+, and the psp 3000 has a both module.. :-)
